Peptide Therrapeutics

Therapeutic peptides have experienced a revival in the interest from the pharmaceutical community due to improvements in manufacturing processes and delivery systems, ince the past 5 to 6 years although they were introduced to the market 20 years ago.
R&D effort for the therapeutics peptides is manly centered on the discovery of novel and effective candidates for various therapeutic areas. Oncology and endocrine diseases in particular have large-market sizes ad a great deal of scope as peptides from different sources can be used to target them.
DiaCarta has obtained exclusive license of FGF-P peptide for therapeutic applications from University of Rochester, NY. The FGF-P is a unique small peptide binding to FGFR in a natural dimmer form with higher affinity than the native FGF protein. It activates the FGF receptors in all tissue tested including GI and bone marrow progenitor cells. It is resistant to enzyme degradation, heat and other deleterious conditions with no toxicity or immunogenicity.
Scientists at DiaCarta have been focusing on the clinical applications of FGF-P for skin burn and GI after radiological and nuclear events.

For victims of beta-burns from radiation terror, DiaCarta's FGF-P patch is a therapeutic product that will improve healing and cold be the crucial factor in preventing mortality. It is an FGF-2 mimetic but unlike recomninant FGF-2, our product is highly stable, remarkably easier and less expensive to manufacture.
Basic Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF-2) has several known properties: 1) virtually all cells express FGF receptors including the mucosa, sin, bone marrow, and vasculature; 2) FGF-2 is required for in-vitro growth of most human cell lines in tissue culture including skin epithelium; and 3) FGF-2 promotes healing if transplanted skin and donor sites in randomized studies of burn patients. These mechanisms are all relevant to our agent and make application of the FDA Animal Rule a logical approach for approval.
